Now you might be saying to yourself, “My sponsor told me to just make a list of 100 friends and family and talk to them”. Your sponsor may also have told you to pass out business cards, talk to everyone within three feet of you about your Sozo business, place fliers on cars in parking lots, buy some leads to call or even write the web address of your replicated website on the sidewalk outside of a business. That last one is no joke. I read that advice on a MlM company website.
Could you imagine sneaking around at night with a piece of chalk and writing the link to your replicated website on the sidewalk? Do you think anyone reading it would remember the numbers at the end of the link that give you credit? I couldn’t imagine anyone even bothering to remember to look up the website once they got home to the computer.
I have been in this industry for some time now and have done everything my up line told me to do, except I never wrote my information on a sidewalk with chalk. I made my list of 100 family and friends. I called and made appointments with all those people. My sponsor gave me a phone script that required me to be vague about why I wanted to meet with them. What was the result? The day of of our scheduled meeting most would either cancel or just not show up. Then those people would stop returning my calls and would avoid me at the store.
Long story short, I got three people to sign up and they all quit within the first year. I finally figured out that the people on my list were not people that wanted to go into business for themselves. The people I was trying to get into my opportunity were people with a Employee mind set. These people were into security. They wanted no risk, a steady paycheck and a retirement plan.
I then had an Ah Ha moment and realized I had to start talking to people that were either familiar with network marketing or wanted to be in business for themselves. How was I going to find these people? The Internet was a natural conclusion. Fortunately I was taken in by a mentor that already had success building his business using the internet.
